About Me

Welcome

I am thrilled to join the Dabbs family as we work together to help students succeed! Growing up with a mom who was a teacher-turned-reading professor, you could say teaching is in my blood. I have a heart for helping students find success in learning. I love collaborating with teachers to implement engaging learning opportunities that help students make lasting connections. My goal is to serve as a source of encouragement and support for teachers and students alike.

I have been an educator for over 20 years and received my bachelor's degree from University of Houston and my master's degree from University of Houston - Clear Lake. My classroom experience ranges from grades 1 through 8. I also have about 10 years' experience as a Campus Technology Specialist at the elementary and junior high levels and serve as an adjunct instructor for pre-service teachers at UHCL.

My husband, Boyce, and I have been married for 26 years, and we have 2 children. Our son, Jeremy, is a 2022 graduate of DPHS and is going into his final year of college at East Texas Baptist University, majoring in Accounting/Finance. Our daughter, Paige, stepped into Heaven in October 2016 at the age of 16 after an almost 3-year battle against an aggressive form of childhood leukemia. If you have been around Deer Park for the last several years, you have likely heard of her. We are humbled and honored that DPJH's Paige Project carries on her legacy of wanting to help families navigating a childhood cancer diagnosis.

Outside of school, running/walking is my exercise of choice. I love getting outside and taking in the beauty all around--even when it's crazy hot and humid! I LOVE reading and have gotten into mysteries this year, as well as LOTS of books on reading and writing! Last, but not least, I am a lifelong Astros fan. My grandpa worked at the Astrodome after he retired and got us behind-the-scenes access to all the action. I was hooked! Go 'Stros!
